Zeolites possess three basic properties: ionexchange, adsorption and molecular sieving. These properties are exploited in a wide spectrum of applications, with a global market of several million tones per year. Major uses are in catalysis (petrochemical cracking), ion-exchange (water softening and wastewater treatment) and in separation and removal of gases and solvents. Zeolite acts as an excellent filtration and sorption material. Adsorbs dioxins and heavy metals also reduce the environmental impact of production and help the biologival process in the biogas production.
