Natural Zeolite

Zeolite is a natural mineral with extraordinary physical properties, such as a natural negative charge and a honeycomb, sponge-like structure.

Natural zeolite boasts a wide range of benefits and applications, from being able to absorb mycotoxins, heavy metals and ammonia from digestive tracks, to working as slow-release for moisture and water in soil conditioning. Created through the mixture of hot, molten lava and saline solution, zeolite is truly unique in both composition and attributes.

Chemical Composition

Natural zeolite, a clinoptilolite, is a hydrated aluminosilicate of alkali metal and alkaline earth metal cations with the ability to exchange their exchangeable cations (Ca II, Mg II, NaI, KI ) for others. The crystal structure itself forms tetrahedrons (SiO4)-VI and (AlO4)-V, with Si-O-Si bonds and a system of channels and pores. These are the specific physical and chemical properties of zeolites.

Attributes of Zeolite

The properties of natural zeolite, are based on the exceptionalism of its crystal, sponge-like structure. Zeolites are porous crystalline absorbents with pores of uniform size. They only absorb those substances that can penetrate through the pores inside the crystalline cavity. This works perfectly as selective filtration allowing only those with a critical molecular diameter of less than that of the pores in the given zeolite to pass through.
